How to Install RMH Performance Racing Exhausts Correctly

How to Properly Install an RMH Performance Racing Pipe

To properly install an RMH Performance Vertical Minarelli Racing Pipe, Avenger Racing Pipe or Menace Racing Pipe, follow these key installation and clearance steps:

1. Pre-Installation & Clearance Checks

  • Frame & Engine Compatibility: This pipe fits motorized bicycle frames using either a pedestal engine mount or a front CNC engine mount.

  • Bottom Bracket Size: Be sure to use a bottom bracket (what the chain ring and pedal cranks attach to in the bicycle frame) that is at least 118mm from spindle end to spindle end to guarantee pedal clearance.

  • Pedal Sprocket Size: You must use a pedal-side sprocket no larger than 32 teeth. A larger sprocket could interfere with the pipe and cause chain clearance issues.

  • Exhaust Flange & Slip-Fit Header: Fit the slip-fit header onto the exhaust port/flange of your Minarelli vertical cylinder. Ensure there is no binding or pre-load tension before locking things down.

2. Securing the Pipe & Springs

  • Seal Header Joint: To maintain a flexible, leak-free seal, use hi-temp, oil resistant RTV (gasket maker) where the header and pipe join together.  Do not move and allow it to cure for 24 hours before riding.

  • Attachment Springs: Hook the provided expansion springs securely between the cylinder/header and the body of the pipe. Use an exhaust spring puller tool when installing springs to make this safe and easy.

  • Silencer Mounting: Slide the silencer mounting bracket over the silencer body and make sure it clamps down tightly against the frame structure.

3. Critical Vibration Support (Preventing Broken Welds)

  • Secure Rear Pipe Bracket to Bike Frame: Use a 66/80 drive chain tensioner or one sold from a popular vendor to create a movement-free bond at the rear of the pipe.  Bolt tensioner to the frame and then bolt rear pipe bracket to the tensioner.

  • Silencer Mount Options: Install included silencer mount either by: 1) securing it to the silencer and a mounting point on the frame, or 2) securing silencer mount to the central location of the pipe/frame.
